Over the weekend I got 3 spams from the following forum topics:

Can something be done to prevent this spam? Mailing lists seem to do it pretty effectively. Is there a community mailing list I can join instead of using forums?

yes we have seen a lot of spam on our forum: we are in the process of testing out drupal modules to alleviate the problem. We should be able to move it to the production web site soon. If anyone has experience or suggestion for our drupal installation, we would love to hear.
We do delete the spam and ban the user, but at that time the email notification has already been sent.
