Hello, I started a project using Eucalyptus. The problem is that my processor is an Intel T4400 and does not support the following features:

1-Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x)
2-ntel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d)

I am planning to buy a new laptop but most processors do not have the second option available. Is the second option mandatory to carry out virtualization (creating new instances in Eucalyptus). And also would a 4GB RAM and 320 GB HDD suffice for the project. Kindly help me. Counting on you people.

How much is the

How much is the difference?

If not much I would have gone for option 2. Gives me more options, these days hypervisors are able to use such features in the processor to provide you great performance on I/O operations.

If the difference is much your requirement would be suffice by option 1 itself so no need to worry.

Wishing you all the best with your eucalyptus adventure!

Hi bonny_Sinha..
All i3,i5,i7 supports virtualisation which is required for Eucalyptus...Some version of quad core and dual core doesnt support...
You need 4GB RAM ..
You should allocate atleast 100 GB to the OS which has cloud..
