Posted: Fri, 07/17/2009 - 13:25

Greetings,

We are pleased to announce the availability of Eucalyptus Version
1.5.2, the latest stable release of Eucalyptus. We're also excited to
announce the first release of euca2ools; command-line client tools for
interacting with Eucalyptus and Amazon EC2.

=== New Features at Version 1.5.2 ===

Eucalyptus version 1.5.2 is a minor release, incorporating several
performance and stability improvements. The following summarizes the
changes from version 1.5.1:

* By default, Eucalyptus components now run as user 'eucalyptus' for
all supported distributions

* Includes support for more third-party client tools (see
http://open.eucalyptus.com/wiki/ToolsEcosystem for more
information).

* Many bug fixes and minor improvements

* Added new web UI tab 'Extras' that includes links to pre-packaged
images and client tools

For a more detailed list, see the 1.5.2 Changelog:

=== Euca2ools ===

We are pleased to announce Euca2ools, a command-line, REST-based tool
suite for interacting with Amazon EC2 and S3 compatible
services. Euca2ools are based on the boto REST library. Euca2ools
provide functionality that is similar to Amazon's EC2 AMI and API
tools including managing virtual machines, keys, security groups,
volumes and snapshots, images and network settings.

We would like to sincerely thank Mitch Garnaat, the lead author of
boto for his help with Eucalyptus integration.
