Greetings,

We're happy to announce that VM instances that are started within the EPC can now contact external debian package mirrors through the firewall. The practical impact of this ability is that you may now execute 'apt-get install ' commands from instances running inside the EPC. For example, if you would like to install an apache web server, you may simply start up a vdebian-etch instance (emi-0D52023B), log in as root, and execute

apt-get install apache2

Of course, you may install any other package you wish through apt-get as well. Thanks once again for your feedback, and thank you for using the Eucalyptus Public Cloud!
